Using the “Require Scan to Pack” Feature

Our Require Scan to Pack feature has been completely redesigned to deliver a smoother, more accurate packing experience. This article walks you through how to enable the feature and how it works in day‑to‑day operations.

This feature is only available in Sandbox and is currently an opt‑in feature within the Small Parcel Suite. To have it enabled, please contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

Enabling Require Scan to Pack

Follow the steps below to turn on the feature for selected customers within a warehouse:

  1. Navigate to Warehouse > Manage Warehouse in 3PL Warehouse Manager.
  2. Select the warehouse you want to configure. Click Edit.
  3. Open the Customizations tab.
  4. Mark the box labeled SmartPack – Require Scan to Pack.
  5. In the dropdown, select the customer(s) for whom you want to enable the feature.
  6. Click Save.

Require Scan to Pack is now active for your selected customers in that warehouse.

How Require Scan to Pack Works

Once enabled, the Pack and Ship workflow will require team members to scan each SKU during packing. This ensures every item is validated before it goes into a package. This feature is especially useful for teams who use Consolidate or Recalculate Packages to automatically generate packaging but still want the accuracy of scanning.

Packing an Order with Require Scan to Pack

  1. Open your order in Small Parcel Suite.

  2. Review the Scan Requirement Notification. Upon opening the order, you will see a message stating that all items on the order must be scanned.

2.1 Begin scanning each SKU on the order.

2.2 Each successful scan validates that the item has been packed into a package.

2.3 Continue scanning until all line items have been confirmed.

  3. Complete Packing.
3.1 Once every item has been successfully scanned into a package, you may proceed to complete the order. You can now:
    1. Click or scan Pack, or
    2. Click or scan Pack and Ship

This finalizes the packing process and moves the order forward to shipping.
