Creating Rate Based on Quantity of Lot with Volume Tiered Rate

This article is about the Billing Manager app, not the Billing Wizard in 3PL Warehouse Manager. To learn about the Billing Wizard, please refer to the articles in the Billing Setup.

 

This article offers a step-by-step guide to creating a rate for an inbound sorting and segregating fee based on the number of individual Lots received, charged on a volume-tiered basis. You can also watch the instructional video for guidance.

  1. Navigate to Rates > Rate List.
  2. Click + Create Rate in the upper right corner. 
  3. Select the following options as shown below on the Create New Rate window. Then, click Continue.

    Automated > Simple Rate > Tiered Rate
  4. Provide basic details such as Rate Name, Rate Description, and Charge Label.
  5. Select Receiving for the Transaction Type and Handling for the Charge Category. Then, click Continue.
  6. Select the following for each field in the Charge Method section. Then, click Next.

    Charge Type: Flat
    Counting Unit: Lot
    Calculate By: Count
  7. Select 'Volume Tiering' in the Tiers section. Then, click Next.
  8.  Follow a sample guide below to understand how volume tiering works. Click the + icon to add another tier. 

    Please note that the operator for each tier is locked. You can only edit the charge amount for each tier and set the value for your 1st and 2nd tier. The value you enter in the To field will serve as the parameter for your last tier.

     

Tier 1: The cost for a single lot is $0.50.
Tier 2: The cost for two to four Lots is $1.00 per Lot.
Tier 3: The cost for more than four Lots is $1.50 per Lot.

What does Volume Tiering mean in the above example?

Charges for the total number of Lots will depend on the tier within which the quantity falls, as defined by the tiers set above.

If there are 4 Lots in the receipt, this will fall on Tier 2. This means that the system will charge $4.00. 

 
  1. Click Next.
  2. Click Skip on the Rate-level Rules section.
  3. Click Yes, Save to save this rate.
  4.  Select Yes or No as desired if you want to add to a rate sheet.
