Understanding Units of Measure (UOM) Count Rate
UOM Count enables the generation of charges for transactions based on the units of measure (UOMs) linked to each SKU in the transaction.
3PL Warehouse Manager supports four types of UOMS:
- Primary
- Secondary
- Packaging (PKG)
- Movable Unit (MU)
To learn more about units of measure, see our article on Defining Units of Measure.
How does UOM Count work?
UOM count calculates a transactional charge by determining the total UOM quantities based on each SKU's UOM definition, and the multiplying each UOM total by the corresponding UOM rate.
Example:
Let's look at a rate where secondary units are ignored in the rate calculation and the UOM rates are defined as follows:
- $5 per primary unit
- $15 per packaging unit
- $75 per movable unit
Let's say that SKU A has UOMs configured as follows:
- Movable unit = 400 primary units
- Packaging unit = 25 primary units
If you receive a shipment of SKU A with a total of 510 primary units, the UOM Count charge is calculated as follows:
- 400 primary units = 1 movable unit
- 100 primary units = 4 packaging units
- 10 primary units = 10 primary units
(1 x $75) + (4 x $15) + (10 x $5) = $185
