System Requirements
3PL Warehouse Manager and SmartScan are accessed through your browser, so reliable internet access is required. It is also recommended to run hardware and operating systems that can run the supported browsers and remain up to date with their current versions.
This article reviews the specifications required to access Extensiv's platforms.
3PL Warehouse Manager
Operating System
For hardware and operating systems, we recommend you access 3PL Warehouse Manager using a laptop or desktop computer and upgrade to the latest versions of our supported browsers listed in the next section below.
Each browser has its minimum recommended specifications to run the browser. For example, here are Google's minimum requirements for Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/7100626?hl=en.
Web Browser
We recommend using the newest version of the following browsers for the best experience of 3PL Warehouse Manager.
- Google Chrome (#1 recommendation, as this is our most heavily tested browser)
- Mozilla Firefox
-
Microsoft Edge
Internet Explorer is not supported and should not be used. In addition, because we do not actively test on Safari, we do not recommend its use because your experience may vary.
Network Speed
Network connectivity can affect general usability and performance of the system. At a minimum, we require download speeds of 13.50 Mbps and 5.00 Mbps for uploads. While 3PL Warehouse Manager can function at network speeds lower than this, the user experience becomes unpredictable and the software is more difficult to use.
Language
English is the only supported language in 3PL Warehouse Manager, and we prefer (but do not require) that your browser is configured for US English. If your web browser is configured in a non-English language, 3PL Warehouse Manager will still display in English, but other websites you open with the same browser session will still open in your preferred language.
SmartScan
Hardware
You can access the SmartScan application on any handheld device that has a web browsing application and internet connection, but we recommend using one of the following devices for the best experience.
Warehouse-grade scanners are built specifically for long-term use in 3PL operations, featuring the ability to withstand harsh warehouse environments, a long battery life, and support for long-range scanning (up to 70 ft).
- Keyence DX series
- Keyence BT series
- Zebra 9300 series
- Zebra 3300 series
- Zebra TC52 series
Retail-grade scanners offer a reliable mobile scanning solution ideal for 3PL ecommerce environments, including forward picking, packing, pick-to-bin, etc.
- Zebra TC21/TC26 (all-touch or keyboard version)
Consumer-grade scanners allow you to integrate scanning with personal devices, such as smartphones and tablets. This solution is ideal if you're looking to introduce barcode scanning in the warehouse, as it offers a lower cost of acquisition and little to no configuration.
- Honeywell Voyager 1602g (Hand-held Bluetooth scanner)
- Unitech ring scanner (Compact Bluetooth scanner to keep both hands free)
Software
The same network speed and language recommendations listed above for 3PL Warehouse Manager also apply to SmartScan.
When it comes to web browsers, the recommendations listed above for 3PL Warehouse Manager are also applicable when using SmartScan on a personal device. All Zebra devices must be licensed and running Enterprise Browser, v1.8 or newer.
It is highly recommended that you keep your devices updated to be near the latest software version for optimal results. SmartScan's operating system requirements are as follows:
- Zebra devices must run on Android 4.4 KitKat or newer.
- Personal Android devices (e.g., Samsung, LG, Google Pixel, LG, OnePlus, Motorola, ZTE, etc.) and iOS devices (e.g., Apple iPhone, iPad) must run on the two latest software versions.
