Configuring QZ Tray on a Mac in Small Parcel Suite

|QZ Tray is a cross‑platform utility that allows 3PL Warehouse Manager to securely send PDF and ZPL print jobs directly to your local printer. It supports major browsers, operating systems, and a wide range of thermal and desktop printers.
This article explains how to install QZ Tray on macOS and connect it to Small Parcel Suite.
System Compatibility
QZ Tray works with:
- Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Internet Explorer, Opera
- Operating Systems: Windows, macOS, Linux
- Printers: Zebra, SATO, Epson, Citizen, Star, Boca, Dymo, and more
Install QZ Tray on macOS
- Open Small Parcel Suite in 3PL Warehouse Manager.
- Click the printer icon in the top navigation bar to open Printer Settings.
- If QZ Tray is not installed, select Download Now. You will be taken to the QZ Tray download page.
- Click the macOS download button on the QZ website.
- When the installer (.pkg file) downloads, open it and follow the installation instructions.
- After installation, QZ Tray automatically launches and runs in the background. You’ll see the QZ Tray printer icon in the macOS menu bar.
Configure QZ Tray Settings
- Click the QZ Tray icon in your macOS menu bar.
- Confirm that Automatically Start is enabled.
This ensures QZ Tray opens automatically each time your Mac starts (recommended).
Connect QZ Tray to Small Parcel Suite
- Return to Printer Settings in Small Parcel Suite. If it’s closed, click the printer icon again.
- Click Connect Now to link QZ Tray to Extensiv.
- Once connected, choose the printer(s) you want to use for:
- ZPL label printing
- PDF label printing
- Click Save Settings to apply your printing preferences. You’re now ready to print shipping labels directly from Small Parcel Suite.
Optional: Preview PDF Labels Before Printing
By default, PDF labels are sent directly to the assigned printer.
If you prefer to preview PDF labels in your browser:
- Open Printer Settings in Small Parcel Suite.
- Uncheck the option that sends PDF labels directly to the printer. PDFs will now open in a viewer for review before printing.
