Putting Orders On Hold in 3PL Warehouse Manager

1.3 min read

| February 12, 2026

The Order Hold feature lets you temporarily stop fulfillment processing for selected orders in 3PL Warehouse Manager. When an order is on hold, fulfillment actions—such as packing, shipping, consolidating, and recalculating—are blocked until the hold is released. This helps prevent accidental shipment of orders that need further review or customer confirmation.

Warehouse or Customer users must have the Orders >  Hold Orders permission to access the Order Hold feature.

What being on hold means

When an order is on hold, many functions are disabled. The following actions in 3PL Warehouse Manager, SmartScan, Small Parcel Suite, and our REST API are disabled for an order on hold:

Putting an order on hold

  1. Go to Orders > Find Orders.
  2. In the Find Orders grid, select the orders you want to put on hold.
  3. From the Manage menu, click Hold Order.
  4. In the Hold Orders window, select a ‘Hold Reason’. If you select a reason of “Other”, you can enter a description of why the order is being put on hold.
  5. Optionally, you can select Unallocate Orders if you want to unallocate this order being placed on hold. By default, this option is off.
  6. Click Confirm to place the order on hold. The Find Orders grid will now display this order as ‘On Hold’ in the ''Hold Status" column.

Release an order from hold

  1. Go to Orders > Find Orders.
  2. Select the held orders you want to release.
  3. From the Manage menu, choose Release Hold.
  4. Confirm the action.

If you unallocated the order, you must reallocate it manually before processing the order.
